To the members of Code Lyoko Evolved: ever wanted to defend the Earth from a ruthless alien invasion? Well, congratulations/commiserations, because the members of our esteemed forum have been... volunteered... for the task.
I will take on the role of XCOM's commander. I don't control what is going to happen from here on in. But I'm going to do my best to keep everyone alive, and find a way to beat the alien invaders. Good luck to us all.
---
We join our heroes as they arrive at
their newly minted underground base in northern Africa: Sector 1.
Sure, there some assembly required, but
there's an alien invasion going on, what did you expect?!? There are interceptors for the flyin' and
ground-pounders for the dy- er, fighting, so XCOM is ready for action.
Speaking of which, there's an ungodly
number of crates marked "Warning: High Explosive" scattered about.
Something to do with an overenthusiastic commander and a storeroom filled to
burst. Better get to work turning those munitions into piles of dead aliens.
Less than a day after the XCOM project's
inauguration, a puny UFO appears in nearby airspace.
With a measure of pity for our first
rather underwhelming extraterrestrial foe, the interceptor with lesser
armaments is dispatched to bring it down.
The gesture is for nought, however, as
the UFO is utterly destroyed by a single Stingray missile. The base commander laughs, wondering what
chance the aliens will have against the Avalanche Torpedoes he has already
requisitioned.
It is not long before the opportunity
arises to find out. The radar contact is slightly larger this time, and a fully
Avalanche-armed Interceptor is dispatched to engage.
Success!
The alien craft plummets from the sky, crashing in the Sahara Desert.
All hands on deck! Rifles and and stun
rods are distributed, along with as many grenades, proximity detonators, high
explosive charges, and smoke grenades as can be carried. The two strongest
soldiers, MooterZolo-Kira and avianchild, are singled out to wield rocket
launchers.
Shortly, the Skyranger arrives at the
aliens' crash site.
Vulnerable deploying in the open desert,
the heroes toss a smoke grenade at the foot of the Skyranger's ramp. This
provokes a flurry of plasma bolts from a squat grey alien, known to the
operatives as a Sectoid, standing in front of the wrecked UFO not far from the
Skyranger.
The operatives choose to remain inside
their craft and wait for smoke to conceal their position rather than deploy
under fire.
Cautiously, they pile out of the
Skyranger. The UFO is visible through
the haze, but the alien who fired upon them cannot be seen - and hopefully they
remain hidden from it. It is not until
Benoni scouts forward that the alien is re-sighted, and Benoni nearly eats a
plasma bolt for his trouble.
The troopers don't appreciate ambushers.
MooterZolo-Kira unlimbers his rocket launcher and lets a rocket fly, impacting
dead on the Sectoid. The battered UFO's hull is untroubled by the blast, but
the same cannot be said of the Sectoid.
avianchild scouts around the far flank of
the crashed craft, spotting a second grey extraterrestrial.
However, she is unable to bring her
cumbersome weapon up in time, and her squadmates aren’t quick enough to
assist. The alien's weapon pulses green
and discharges a bolt that splashes across the front of avianchild's uniform.
Miraculously, she finds herself alive,
having suffered only minor burns! Now
it's her turn. She rounds the small sandy hill, goes to one knee, and empties
her rocket launcher, blowing the alien to bits.
The squad secures the area and notes the
UFO interior contains several more dead Sectoids. They had perished in the
crash, not from rocket shrapnel: the UFO's exterior had remained resilient in
the face of an aerial attack, crash landing, and multiple rocket
detonations. Something on the interior
was to blame for their demise.
Their work done, the heroes returned to
Sector 1 triumphant.

Mission Recap and Debriefing
MooterZolo-Kira: 1 kill
avianchild: 1 kill
New Sergeant: MooterZolo-Kira
New Squaddie: avianchild
No Fatalities
Get (over)kills, get promoted! I had a
feeling avian and rockets were made for each other, and I think high-velocity
high explosive is a good metaphor for Mooters' (a.k.a. DBP) time on the forums.
=P Plus, Mooters gets the distinction of being XCOM's first officer. It's also worth mentioning there were VERY
few aliens in that UFO, so don't get used to it...

Awesome. :D
